Dan comes from a Rogerian perspective and takes a client focused approach in his work. He feels clients come with their breadth of personal experience and self-knowledge, and he can bring the depth of clinical experience. Many of the clients Dan works with have experienced trauma. He has found it is crucial in to be trauma-informed in all of interactions. Dan works with each client and their treatment plans with an individual perspective and takes their strengths, interests and coping skills into account which assists client’s in ownership of the treatment process and allows it to be client-led. Dan tends to utilize big picture thinking to help clients understand how their daily interactions could be tied to their trauma.
Dan approaches therapy with a collaborative perspective – believing it is possible to help clients work through their concerns together. In counseling he pulls from a variety of approaches including play therapy techniques, attachment based approaches, and is trained in TF-CBT and EMDR.
