Counseling for Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common reasons individuals seek support. Anxiety can be overwhelming and scary at times. Matters of the Heart Counseling looks at anxiety in a different way than many other traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapist in that we see anxiety as having the intent to be helpful and we must work with it to help calm the anxiety so it does not overwhelm individuals. We utilize Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral approaches to help you learn to look at the part of yourself that is anxious. By examining and partnering with that part of yourself, you can learn to reduce your anxiety and work with it, instead of arguing against it.
Another approach to working with anxiety includes adding Neurofeedback to your treatment, if you choose. Neurofeedback is a proven intervention to assist with calming the nervous system thus reducing one’s anxiety. To learn more about Neurofeedback refer to our information page on this website or contact us. One of our therapists, Christy, has taken additional training on navigating anxiety and is skilled at helping you reduce your symptoms of anxiety.
