Elaine Shenk, MS
Practice Manager and Adoptive Family Support
Elaine holds a Master of Science in Human Services with a Counseling Specialization. She spent the past fifteen years at Bethany Christian Services of Central PA, most recently as Director of Family Strengthening and Empowerment. With over 30 years of personal and professional experience in adoption, Elaine is passionate about cultivating healthy relationships-within families, the workplace, and the church.
She is the co-author of Leveling Up: Adoptive Parents and the Adult Adoptee (CrossLink, 2022), written with Dr. Christina Reese. Elaine also presents workshops at Filled, an annual retreat for adoptive and foster moms sponsored by Foster the Family.
At MOH, Elaine is able to schedule one-on-one coaching appointments with individuals or couples walking the adoption journey. These appointments are not billable to insurance and are charged at a rate of $90 for individuals or $125 for couples. In addition to coaching, she also manages the day-to-day operations of the office.
Elaine and her husband have four children who joined their family through adoption, and they are proud grandparents of two. They spent seven years of their married life living in East Africa and have led multiple short-term mission trips to Zambia. These days, their three large dogs help keep their empty nest full of activity and joy.
