Mary Dodds
Do you find yourself stuck repeating actions that don’t match the person you want to be? Do struggles like anxiety, depression, or obsessive thoughts make your goals seem impossible to attain—or make life simply unbearable?
As a foster or adoptive parent, you might wonder if the dysregulation and pain of a trauma background will ever turn to peace. Or, as an individual, you may feel like your past leaves you wondering if you will ever feel whole.
Whether you are seeking personal growth, battling major mental health challenges, or navigating the heavy toll of trauma, there is hope. I believe that a combination of empirical, empathetic techniques and a relationship with Christy can not only bring healing, but result in redemption and powerful stories of beauty. You can move past simply surviving to truly thriving. More than you could ask or imagine is possible.
My Approach & Specializations
For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of watching individuals thrive in successful, happy, and relationally healthy lives—even in the face of deep-seated trauma and mental health struggles.
I partner with adults, teens, and children (ages 8 and up), offering a safe space to navigate:
Anxiety, Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder and Obsessive behaviors/Thoughts
Trauma recovery and emotional dysregulation
Foster care and adoption journeys (supporting both parents and children)
Spiritual growth and faith-integrated healing
Background & Credentials
My journey has given me a deep, varied perspective on resilience and community. I was raised as a missionary kid in China, and today I am a military spouse and mother of two. When I’m not in the counseling room, I love reading the Bible, writing, spending time with my huge extended family, and engaging in good, deep conversations.
Education: Graduate of Liberty University

Experience: Five years working directly with youth and trauma-background students in a K-12 school setting, alongside a lifetime of leading small groups and one-on-one mentorship for both youth and adults in ministry settings.
