Courtney is a board-certified Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. She has experience working with a variety of individuals walking through mental health struggles, trauma, behavioral difficulties, adoption/foster care, physical disabilities, grief/loss, and pediatric oncology. A primary focus of her work has been with children ages 4-18 and she strives to see the individual as a whole and focuses on improving their overall well-being. Courtney practices with a person-centered approach and sees the value in creating artwork as a cathartic and sensory release with her clients. She is passionate about the creative process and uses artwork as a non-verbal outlet for those who struggle to identify their thoughts and feelings verbally. Courtney promotes holistic and realistic expectations for healing and provides a genuine atmosphere for the individual to feel heard and accepted.
She is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilizes strength-based techniques to help the client reduce negative perceptions about themselves and their current situation. When working through trauma, Courtney will work with you at your own pace and will help guide you on your own journey of healing. She feels the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects of therapy, as the client should always feel safe, comfortable and not judged for what they are experiencing.
In her spare time, Courtney loves to spend time with her family and friends, be outside, create artwork, cook, and go for walks with her dog. She enjoys any show/movie with humor and loves to have a good laugh (because laughter is also some of the best medicine).
Insurances approved include: Capital Blue Cross, Highmark, Quest, Capital Blue, and Geisinger. We are able to bill out of network UPMC and accept self pay clients.
